Attached is pertinent information for parents and guardians of Holy Name of Jesus School.

Car Rider Procedure

  • Parents should park outside the Primary Building
  • At 3:00 PM, parents line up (single file) outside the Primary Building. A staff member will call for your child/chidren and the they will come out to you.

Everyday Car Riders: If you plan for you child/children to be car riders every day, you should send a note to the child/children's homeroom teacher(s) at the beginning of the school year indicating their status as a regular car rider. If your child/children will be picked up by someone other than a parent, please include that information on your yellow HNJ school note.

Occasional Car Riders: If your child/children will normally be bus riders but you wish to pick them up on occasion, you must send a note to the child/children's homeroom teacher(s) on those days when they will be car riders.

If you have any questions regarding car rider dismissal, please feel free to contact the Holy Name of Jesus School Office at 717-657-1704.

Inclement Weather Policy

School closings and delays will be announced via blast from Sister Rita.

You may also check media websites for information as listed below:

SCHOOL DELAY, CLOSING AND DISMISSAL POLICY

Holy Name of Jesus School closings and early dismissals related to inclement weather are determined by the Central Dauphin School District....if Central Dauphin Schools are closed or dismissing early, HNJ is also closed or dismissing early.

  • In the event of an early dismissal

Keep in mind that Central Dauphin buses pick up private school students after the public high

school students, so HNJ students are not necessarily picked up precisely at the noted early

    dismissal time.

HNJ students come from several different school districts;  early dismissal times may vary

from district to district.  If your child is a bus rider, please take note of the early dismissal

time that your district is announcing to determine the time of your child's bus pick-up at HNJ

If your child is an After-School Program attendee and an early dismissal is announced, please

please contact the HNJ School Office at 717-657-1704 to inform us as to how your child will be

getting home that day.  These students are often concerned about whether they should ride the bus or wait to be picked up a parent or guardian.

  • In the event of a 2 hour delay

    Pre-K 3: 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

    Pre-K 4 Morning Program:  10:00 am - 12:00 pm

    Pre-K-4 Afternoon Program:  12:45 - 2:45 pm

Kindergarten:  Follows two-hour delay schedule along with Grades 1-8

For cases when Central Dauphin School District & Holy Name of Jesus School are in session but the school district where you live announces a closing or delay, busing to HNJ will not be available.  Parents are asked to provide transportation for their student(s) to/from school.

For cases when school districts other than Central Dauphin announce an early dismissal, only HNJ students who live in those school districts will be dismissed early.  Please note, busing will be provided in these instances.

  • In the event of an emergency school closing

School buses will be provided to take students home; parents may also come to the school office to pick up their child/children.

Radio and television stations will be notified in order to keep parents informed of details regarding the emergency, dismissal times, and possible changes in bus numbers/routes.
